Community Gardens

Meet our gardens! Our research study includes seven community gardens across Arkadelphia, Little Rock, and Pine Bluff. Local churches and neighborhood groups manage the gardens. Each garden grows a mix of vegetables, herbs, and flowers in shared plots. Some have beehives, chickens, and ducks. Each listing below includes garden location, hours, contact person, and site description.

Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Little Rock

Our garden has a fruit forest with over four different types of fruit trees and vines. We have several raised beds and .25 acres of planted row crops in the community garden.

Community Family Enrichment Center, Arkadelphia

The CFEC Community Garden is comprised of eight raised beds that include cucumbers, squash, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, and beans. The produce from the vegetable garden is placed in the food boxes and distributed to families through the Food Pantry. Various flowers and herbs are planted in the garden; the flowers and herbs consist of roses, hibiscus, ivy, rosemary, mint, and lavender.

Thanks to volunteers, we have garden seating, workbenches, and a compost bin. The compost bin is used to develop compost for the garden.
